In addition to being a "handicraft center" in the region where it is located and being a city where different handicrafts are passed down from generation to generation, Yalova is a location which is rich in terms of beaches, waterfalls and lakes.

Sugören Village Silk Carpet Weaving

Sugören village (Sugören köyü), a charming village resting against the mountains, is like the handicraft center of the local villages. The village is famous for its hand-woven silk carpets. In addition to the carpet weaving performed in the workshops, there is a carpet loom in almost every house.

The quality and weaving of silk carpets woven in Sugören attract many buyers in many tourism centers, especially in İstanbul and in Europe. In terms of knots per centimeter, carpets which are of a quality that can compete with the famous Iranian carpets are woven here.

Erikli Waterfall

Erikli Waterfall (Erikli Şelalesi) is established on a 33-decares of land within the forest and serves as a tent camp and recreation area on the shores of the waterfall and the river.

The most important feature of the hiking trail, which is full of chestnut, elm, fir and apple trees, is that there are many waterfalls along the Erikli River (Erikli Deresi), which you follow. There are toilet and shower facilities in the Erikli Waterfall Nature Park and Camping Area.

You can rent tents and camping equipment. Parking service is also available. You can go there in every season, but the best time is spring.

Sudüşen Waterfall

The Termal district offers a magnificent festival to nature lovers with Sudüşen Waterfall (Sudüşen Şelalesi) and its surroundings. The road to the waterfall stands out as a natural walking trail. Marmara Sea view and a wide variety of forest fauna will accompany you while climbing the waterfall.

Thanks to these features, this route is used by photographers, safari enthusiasts, trekking and picnickers. Panorama Hill at 120 meters above the sea, offers quite beautiful scenery covered with its green flora in all seasons.

Dipsiz Lake

Dipsiz Lake (Dipsiz Göl) consists of a large bottomless lake at an altitude of 530 meters and is 2.5 kilometers away from Yalova City Forest and a small bottomless lake at an altitude of 570 meters which is 1.5 kilometers away. The region is quite rich in terms forest flora and wildlife.

Delmece Plateau

The best-known plateaus of Yalova are Erikli and Delmece plateaus located in the south of Kocadere and Teşvikiye towns. 17 kilometers from the coast in Çınarcık district, Delmece Plateau is a very wide flat area with unique natural beauty.

This area consists of pine, oak, chestnut and linden trees, waterfalls in the surroundings and a deep crater lake known as the "bottomless lake" as well as a drinking water source known as "the healing water." Delmece Plateau (Delmece Yaylası) covers an area of ​​400 acres. It hosts 60 wood and 20 masonry buildings.

Yalova City Forest

Yalova City Forest (Yalova kent Ormanı) is 29 kilometers away from Yalova city center. The forest, which covers an area of ​​95 hectares, hosts a 2-kilometer-long walking track, children's playgrounds, sports areas, sitting and resting areas, toilets, fountains and picnic areas.

 Entrance to the forest is free, private restaurants are available near the forest for those who would like to have a barbecue.

The forest mostly consists of beech, larch and oak trees. There are small numbers of chestnut, hornbeam, outer knots, maple, sycamore, alder, linden, wild cherry, and wild plum trees.

The city forest hosts animals such as bears, wild boars, foxes, squirrels, lizards, jackals, badgers, hedgehogs, rabbits, turtles, snakes, turtle doves, wood pigeons, quail, hazel grouse, blackbirds, starlings, coots, woodcocks, hawks, grey partridges and woodpeckers.

Road with Plane Trees

Road with Plane Trees (Çınarlı Yol) (Hıyaban with Plane Trees) is located on the route that connects Termal Hot Springs to Yalova. The image of a green tunnel shaped by plane trees from the Atatürk period until today is worth seeing. The road is 12,350 meters long and 10 meters wide.

Höyüktepe

Höyüktepe is one of the unique beauties of Yalova as it offers both sea and lake views.

Höyüktepe is one of the most popular sites between Sugören and Sermayecik villages as a point for photo safari and enjoying the scenery.

Located 3 kilometers away from Sugören village, Höyüktepe is a hill with an altitude of 600 meters and covered with small herbaceous plants. İznik Lake is seen in the east and the Marmara Sea in the west from the summit.

Silk Cocoon Embroidery

Silk cocoon embroidery (İpek Koza İşlemeciliği) was one of the most popular handicrafts among people during the Ottoman period. Silk fabrics and silk velvets were earlier used to decorate the most beautiful corners of homes or family photographs. Today, products made of silk cocoons are used in accessories, home furnishings, clothing and artistic products.

Silver and Horn Embroidery

In Yalova, horns obtained from animals are used in jewelry and gift making together with precious metals such as silver and gold. After the horn is dried in the shade for about 8 months it’s ready for processing. They are transformed into jewelry or souvenirs by using various Anatolian motifs from Çatalhöyük to the present day.

Yalova Tile-Making

The history of traditional Turkish tile art goes back to the 12th century. The tiles are prepared in line with different production and decoration techniques.

Tile masters have been widely using the "underglaze technique" since the 16th century while making tiles, in accordance with the recipes containing traditional knowledge about nature.

Geometric shapes, herbal ornaments and animal figures are generally used in tile decorations with different color compositions.

The main factors that make traditional tile art special and protect it are related to the traditional craftsmanship that manifests itself in the knowledge and practices that are handed down from generation to generation for the supply of raw materials, preparation of dyes, production and use of production tools, firing processes, decoration techniques and aesthetic insights.

Çınarcık Handiwork

Çınarcık handiwork (Çınarcık İşi) is done by pulling yarn on raw silk, cotton and linen fabrics and processing the fabric using natural yarns. Among those produced are works such as room sets, coffee table covers, bedspreads. All materials used are organic. Fabrics used must be hand woven.

Yalova Beaches

There are uniquely beautiful untouched bays and coastline between Çınarcık and Armutlu. Yalova is surrounded by the Marmara Sea from north to southwest. The coastline shows the features of natural beaches. Although the coasts are generally covered with sand, Çınarcık and Esenköy coasts are pebble.

Sea water temperature in summer (June-September) is between 19.9–22.9 degrees Celsius on average. The air temperature changes between 20 and 23 degrees Celsius during the same months.
